Where to Buy Big Twist Yarn! (SCAM ALERT)
I’m going to cut to the chase here…. the answer is still Joann Fabrics! DO NOT go to the website for Big Twist Yarn! During the bankruptcy process, each of the brands that was under Joann Fabrics was sold to a few different companies. The company that purchased the Big Twist Yarn brand name and website is now using that website to SCAM YOU.
First of all, the company is still going under. The yarn MIGHT be purchased by another company and sold under a different brand in the future. However, it is not right now! I fell in love with some of their yarn last year to make specialty items for friends and family and of course, I’m devastated that they are going under. I went to the website and saw the big button that says they sell on Amazon and I clicked it. You know what happened? It went to a listing of all kinds of other yarn on Amazon but NOTHING of their brand. Why? This is because the company is an unethical one that is taking advantage of the huge amount of people doing research on where to find Big Twist Yarn. They put an Amazon link on there to make money off of your purchasing and have absolutely no intention of helping you!
BE CAREFUL!!
The website is designed to add tracking to your browsers, put advertising in front of you to make money, and of course have you click a link, so they make money from Amazon. Hopefully, Amazon will put a stop to that, but I kind of doubt it. I know that the Big Twist yarn has many types of yarn that are absolutely wonderful and will be really hard to replace. I use yarn for some really cool items and I’m still hoping that another company will take over that area. I’ve reached out to some yarn companies already, but the company that purchased that brand name will not give any information in hopes that they make millions off the people clicking on the website.
I don’t know how much damage that company can do. They probably already have all of the customer information. I’m more worried about how unethical they are. Don’t forget to protect yourself. If you have used that website and clicked on anything, run an antivirus scan on your computer and make sure you have cleared any tracking cookies, etc. from your browser. Once I realized what was going on, I ran as fast as possible (digitally) from that website! I cannot believe they are legally allowed to do what they did. I am pretty sure it’s considered a bait and switch tactic that is actually illegal, but good luck on getting anyone to do anything about it.
How to Protect Yourself from Online Attacks
I think we’ve all seen the various ways our information is already stolen. If you clicked anything on that website and fear for your personal information… you should have some identity protection in place. Personally, I work with a paid legal services company that has credit protection as well. You can check out their products on my website for them here: cmeason.legalshieldassociate.com (That is how important I think having protection in your life is that I have it at all times for myself AND my family!)
For most of us, a computer scan is probably good enough for a website like that, but…. I’m very much aware of the problems in the identity theft world and my son has had his social security number used BEFORE he was even born! (Long story there.) It’s not “IF” it happens anymore! It is definitely a “WHEN” it happens type of situation. Be prepared for WHEN it happens… because it WILL. I’m not telling you that you should drop everything and get some protection… I’m just saying, know your options in case you need it. Most identity protection companies will only help you once you’ve become established. It’s much easier for them to help you fix something that happens after you are a member because they are usually monitoring for you. They can’t get into accounts that are frozen and see what is going on if they weren’t monitoring them to begin with. (This is actually a complicated process that is best saved for another time, but the point here is that it’s easier to help if they are already helping you.)
Where to buy Substitution Yarn
As an Amazon affiliate myself, I’m constantly looking for the best solutions to items that disappear form the market. This is not the first time that we’ve had a brand disappear form the yarn market! In the flannel market, I’ve had many, many companies that have come and gone from the fabric market. I’m very well aware of the need to find a replacement for a product that disappears.
If you love the Big Twist yarn, then you’ll need to try really hard to scoop up some from a local store. Or you might get lucky, and we might start seeing it on Amazon, Ebay or even Etsy from third party sellers. The Big Twist brand, however, is NOT being sold from that company outside of Joann Fabrics locations. I’m testing out several different companies to see if the quality of their yarn is good enough. I’ll be starting up a YouTube channel to help people. To be honest, when this all started, I was like “oh well, off to find something new again” and didn’t really think much of it. Now, though, as I’m doing research and looking at options… it’s overwhelming and disheartening. I’ll buy something that seems to be amazing in the pictures and then I want to burn it when I get it because it’s so horrible.
It’s not just with yarn, though. It’s ALL the craft products out there right now! So, I’ll be doing a bunch of reviews on various craft products that I try out and I will make sure everyone knows where to get decent products. I will NOT be reselling yarn myself any time soon. I have too much flannel to take care of for now! I do like yarn as well as regular cotton, fleece, minky, etc. I’m a big crafter and love to be exposed to a variety of products.
I WILL HELP YOU! – So, stay tuned for more information as I get it! I’ll link to the YouTube channel when it’s ready and I’ll post individual information about different types of products here on my website when I get that information for you. 🙂
